Malaysia Indonesia Rock Engineering Symposium (MIRES) 2020 


You are invited to submit your paper for Malaysia-Indonesia Rock Engineering Symposium (MIRES) 2020 with special theme of "Rock Never Lies". 

General papers presented in the form of common technical papers, scientific papers, and the ideas related to the field of Site Investigation, Laboratory Experimentation, Field Experimentation & Observation Monitoring, and Numerical Modelling, in several sectors: Mining, Energy and Infrastructure, with sub-topics as follows, but not limited to:

1. Mining Sector:

a.     Rockmass characterization

b.     Constitutive models and numerical modeling

c.      Underground mine opening stability

d.     Open pit slope stability

e.     Drill Blast & Mechanical Excavation


2.  Energy Sector:

a.     Geomechanics for petroleum engineering – well design, injection, fracturing, production and depletion of reservoirs, well stimulation

b.     Geomechanics in geothermal exploration and production

c.      Coupled processes – geomechanics, fluid flow, heat transport

d.     Geophysics and geology in geomechanics

e.     Wellbore stability and Ground Stability in Coal Bed Methane and Underground Coal Gasification


3. Infrastructure Sector

a.      Underground waste storage/disposal

b.      Stability of natural slope

c.      Deep and shallow tunnels

d.      Dam stability

e.      Earthquake ground motions and seismic hazards analysis


Papers submitted to this symposium will have 2 options; to be published in the Symposium Proceeding, or in the Bulletin of the Geological Society of Malaysia (indexed by SCOPUS; ISSN 0126-6187, e-ISSN 2637-109X). Paper submitted to the Bulletin will incur additional publication fees of USD100. The selected papers will undergo appropriate reviewing process in order to fulfill the requirements of the Bulletin. Information regarding article submission to this journal is available at The Geological Society of Malaysia website. For accepted papers to be presented at the symposium, at least one author should register as paying participant.
